Our Classes

We have 3 classes in all, Dosbarth Hedyn – Class 1 our first class is where we welcome all children to begin their educational journey with us. Dosbarth Glasbren – Class 2 is the next chapter, where we build upon the foundations of literacy and numeracy skills that have been created. Dosbarth Coeden – Class 3 is our final class, where the focus is upon consolidating the skills and knowledge built upon in previous years, in order for our learners to flourish as independent, capable learners.

These classes are supported by two additional learning environments.  Gofod Sgiliau – Skills Space reflects the inclusive nature of our school. The promotion of well-being is at the heart of this welcoming, low-arousal environment, which supports our learners with specific sensory needs. Finally Ysgol Goedwig – Forest School, sessions are aimed at developing learners’ awareness of both themselves and their environment, at promoting positive self-esteem, encouraging the growth of both independent practical skills and confidence in working as part of an effective team, alongside supporting the development of fine and gross motor skills.

Dosbarth Hedyn – Class 1

Our first class is where we welcome all children to begin their educational journey with us. We appreciate each child’s unique starting point, providing the right amount of support at the right time, as we have high aspirations for the progress of all of our children. Our child-led focus places emphasis upon learning through play, with the foundations of literacy and numeracy skills being keenly fostered.

Our adjoining ‘Outdoor Classroom’, enables us to utilise our natural world all year round. Being outdoors provides our children with further opportunities to explore using all of their senses, alongside embracing being physically active. We provide a solid base for our children to become independent learners, through encouraging perseverance and resilience, enriching natural curiosity and promoting a courteous, compassionate nature.

Dosbarth Glasbren – Class 2

In this next chapter, we build upon the foundations of literacy and numeracy skills that have been created, through broadening the opportunities for exploration and discovery.

In this time of growing curiosity, our learners are encouraged to look beyond their immediate needs as we look to expand horizons. In supporting our learners to be empathetic individuals, we foster a passion for caring for each other and the world in which we live.

Dosbarth Coeden – Class 3

In our final class, the focus is upon consolidating the skills and knowledge built upon in previous years, in order for our learners to flourish as independent, capable learners. Diverse learning experiences provide opportunities for our learners to be thoroughly challenged, whilst in a supportive environment, to ensure that each and every child reaches their full potential.

We ensure that our learners are ready to embark upon the next chapter in their educational journey. We know that our learners will travel on to high school, confident in their own abilities as ambitious, enterprising and creative learners, ready to contribute in a variety of the ways to our world of diversity.

Gofod Sgiliau – Skills Space

Our Gofod Sgiliau – Skills Space reflects the inclusive nature of our school. The promotion of well-being is at the heart of this welcoming, low-arousal environment, which supports our learners with specific sensory needs.

This calming, safe space provides a richly resourceful setting, which enables our learners to fulfil their sensory requirements. Our Skills Space is open to our whole school community, optimising the learning potential of each and every one of our learners as they are supported to flourish, in their own time and in their own way.

Ysgol Goedwig – Forest School

Our Forest School sessions are aimed at developing learners’ awareness of both themselves and their environment, at promoting positive self-esteem, encouraging the growth of both independent practical skills and confidence in working as part of an effective team, alongside supporting the development of fine and gross motor skills.

Through taking part in weekly sessions all year round, we aim to foster a lifelong connection for our learners with our natural environment in the hope that they will become the advocates of the future in creating a sustainable world.

“Love one another as I have loved you, then everyone will know that you are my disciples”. John 13:34

Our Mission Statement anchors our purposeful learning, so that valued in our uniqueness we nurture our skills and talents to our fullest potential. Our stimulating experiences promote our joy of learning as we thrive, growing in our self-belief, happiness and independence. We inspire and motivate each other to strive for excellence in our increasingly digital world, as we become advocates for our ever-changing future.

We develop our inclusivity and compassion for our global neighbours as we encourage each other in our responsibility to care for God’s world. Together, we build a stronger community through mutual respect of our differences and similarities, celebrating our home in Cymru and our place in the wider world as we Listen, Laugh and Live in the Light of the Lord.
